THE COURAGE TO BE SEEN

Prologue

SCARLET explores what it means to be seen, judged, and still choose yourself.

It began with music — an album on repeat, a word that lingered, and an emotional connection that sparked a search. That search led into the history of scarlet red and, later, Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, where themes of judgement and identity gave another dimension to what was already taking shape.

Through these influences, Archive Studio’s debut collection became a personal exploration of confidence, sensuality and self-love. Deep burgundy, washed denim and contrasting silhouettes give those feelings a physical form — an invitation to express who you are, even under someone else’s gaze.

A WORD, A FEELING

SCARLET began with music. An album on repeat, a word that stayed with me, and a feeling I wanted to give form to.

That word led me to the colour — its intensity, its history, and how it was once made. The research eventually brought me to Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The Scarlet Letter, adding questions of judgement, identity and self-expression to an idea that had started with sound.

These references became part of something personal: the first chapter of Archive Studio.

DEVELOPMENT

EMOTION TAKES SHAPE

The ideas behind SCARLET take shape through contrasts: structured corsets and loose denim, close-fitting silhouettes and flared hems, deep burgundy and faded black.

Coated surfaces, distressed edges and washed textures bring depth to the collection. Sketches and samples became a way to explore these choices — how a piece frames the body, how it moves, and how it feels to wear.

EXPRESSION

THE COURAGE TO BE SEEN

SCARLET comes to life through the person wearing it — their posture, their movement, their way of taking up space.

There is vulnerability in being seen, especially when others have already decided who you should be. This collection is an invitation to dress on your own terms, embrace your sensuality and find confidence in what feels true to you.

With each wearer, the story continues beyond the studio.
